About The Artist

Michael Talbot
Michael Talbot was born in Staffordshire in 1959. He obtained an honours degree from Staffordshire University in 1980. He went on to postgraduate study at the Royal Academy School in London where he won the prestigious Landseer Prize. Michael is primarily a sculptor of the human image, specialising in portrait and figurative sculpture. His work is widely collected and he is perhaps, best known for his study of beauty in the female form. Michael was elected to the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1994 and is a former council member of the Society of Portrait Sculptors.

Ronald Cameron

Ronald Cameron is a Londoner of Scots extraction. He graduated from Camberwell Art College in 1951 with a diploma in sculpture. During his long career he has worked in many fields of 3D art, producing sculpture commissions from life size bronzes to miniatures in gold and silver. More recently he has concentrated his talents on the classical theme of the female nude figure which he presents in a modern manner, designed to portray the poise and confidence of the dynamic young woman of today. Ronald Cameron now has an established international reputation and his sculptures are widely collected.

David Geenty
David was born in Blackpool in 1945, but when he was only two years old, his parents immigrated to South Africa. When David was seventeen he met and studied under an outstanding South African sculptor, Moses Kotler. Geenty believes that it was Kotler who most influenced his formative years and that it is to his tuition that he largely owes his great animalier talents and techniques. Today Geenty has returned to England and has his studio in the Cotswolds.

Tom Mackie
Born in Edinburgh in 1939, Tom attended Leith Academy and has lived in the Scottish Highlands since 1968. He began modelling for Heredities in 1976. With natural talent in abundance, he has deveolped his own special technique for modeling wildlife sculptures which are seriously detailed and lifelike with a wonderful movement, unique to Tom's style.

Jean Spouse
Born in Hartlepool in 1949, Jean Spouse studied design at Lanercost Craft Centre. Always a keen naturalist, Jean spent many years as a volunteer worker for RSPB. Jean shows an interest in dogs of almost every kind, something which becomes very evident in her work, most notably when you consider some of the pieces she has created for Heredities.

Roland Chadwick
Born in 1925, trained in drawing and painting under Bernard Meninsky and Ruskin Spear, RA at Londons Central School of Arts and Crafts. Rolands first career was in book design and illustration, during which time he tried his occasional hand at wood carving. He was forty before he turned to modelling. A model he was sharing with a sculptor friend threw a ball of clay at him for fun, from which he sat and made a rough 'sketch' of her, was 'hooked' and gradually turned to full time professional figure work in clay. Under the spells of Maillol and Rodin, the nude figure has remained his forte.

Alan Maslankowski
Despite his exotic name, Alan Maslankowski was born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1952 and is a true and talented product of the Potteries. While still at school he was offered and accepted an apprenticeship at Royal Doulton. Through the Aegis of this company he was able to study for 5 years at London College of Art, specialising, not unnaturally, in design and art modelling. Fully qualified, he finally left Royal Doulton to exploit his undoubted talentin a freelance capacity. He now lives and works in the Potteries, producing works of substantial technical excellence and notable creative beauty.

Pauline Parsons
Pauline Parsons was born in Blackpool in 1947 and studied art at the much renowned Harris Art School in Preston. From there she qualified for the Manchester College of Art where she graduated with honours in 1968. Since then she has worked in the widest range of artistic media, but always with a concentration on life-class work. Her human studies, particularly her chid studies, show a deep perception both of form and emotion.

Colin Downes
Born in Ipswich, with a colourful childhood and within the bosom of a slightly eccentric family during the 1960's, Colin found escape in drawing and illustration. He ultimately pursued this interest through Art College where he found his true creative expression in 3D form and pottery. With BA honours and Masters degrees in 3D Desig and Ceramics from Staffordshire University, Colin has many years working for major manufacturers of pottery and artwares. Inspired by many iconic art design fashion and cultural movements of the 20th century he combines innovative ideas with craft sensibilities to create unique, sophisticated and beautiful art objects for the home.

Steve Finney
Born in 1957 in Stoke-on-Trent, Steve currently resides in the Irish Midlands. As an enthusiastic young man from a hot-bed of design and pottery culture, he bacame a self taught designer of many talents. Not limited by the boundaries of specific themes, steve has a varied and very interesting portfolio, some of which can be seen throughout the Heredities range.

Carl Payne
Carl's background in design gained momentum following his time spent at the Burslem College of Art, before moving on to Stafford College where he qualified in figurative sculpture. Experience in figure painting and as an aerographic artist have afforded Carl a well rounded skill base, and his work endeavours to reach for new heights as he continues to push the boundaries of his talents. A gifted and enthusiastic sculptor, Carl's skills encompass everything from life-size bronze public works through to sensitive studies of form across a variety of mediums. His dedication and passion for his work and attention to detail makes Carl one of the outstanding craftsmen in the field of figurine design.
